Mike Gunion
President

25 years experience leading and growing technology companies. VP and GM with General Electric, Siemens Business Services, and Pacific Bell. BS degree in Industrial Management from San Jose State University, and is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Kellogg School’s Executive Development Program. Mike has four children and lives in Benicia, CA with his wife, Yamilet.

Joe Castner
Vice President, Sales and Marketing

25 years of experience in Sales, Marketing, and Operations with leading companies such as Security Pacific, Siemens, ENTEX, and Pacific Bell. BA degree in Political Science from Occidental College, and an MBA from St. Mary’s College. Has three children and lives in Lafayette, CA with his wife, Beth.

Al Barsimanto
Founder

30+ years of experience in Senior Management and market strategy development. Founded several companies, worked as President and National Sales Manager for firms such as Robert’s Electronics and Decca Records. BA degree in Business Administration from Woodbury University. A long-time Marin County resident, Al and his wife of 55 years, Adrienne, raised four children. Al passed away at the age of 80 on December 1, 2007. He is greatly missed, but his legacy lives on.

Our History in Brief:

1981 – Air Ion Devices, Inc. is founded by Al Barsimanto and begins doing business as AspenAir. Al’s primary objective is to master the technology that will enable cigarette smoke to be effectively removed from indoor air, while providing “balanced” air that is found in nature.

1984 through 1996 – AspenAir sells nearly a million Indoor Air Purifiers, primarily via direct to consumer marketing.

1997 – The company begins work developing a high-efficiency; electronic, whole house air cleaning system, leveraging their breakthrough proprietary technology. Primary focus is to create high-performance units which can be installed either at the furnace or in the return air filter grille. The latest patent for our revolutionary technology was approved in 2006.

2006 – With Mike Gunion as CEO and Joe Castner as COO, (AspenAir) closes its first round of equity financing investment. Primary investment comes from the green building industry.
