According to Dean Ongaro, vice president and co-owner of HVAC installers Ongaro & Sons and Crane & Sons, environmental consultants have counseled his company to remove metal plate systems, since they’re likely to exacerbate poor air quality by producing ozone, an irritant.

“We’ve been thirsting for a system like AspenAir’s that collects dirt on a throwaway media. There’s really nothing out there. Also, the industry is primed for an add-on that plugs into the HVAC system,” said Mr. Ongaro, whose company installs 400-500 heating and air conditioning systems a year. “We’re ready to carry it.”
